Qiviut, the downy winter undercoat of Arctic muskoxen, is one of the world’s most precious natural fibres. Come and find out why at this hands-on workshop featuring Tanis Simpson (Inuvialuk), co-owner of Qiviut Inc., a 100% Inuit-owned fibre mill. You’ll learn about the unique properties of qiviut fibre, the continued importance of the muskox harvest for Inuvialuit communities, and the ways in which Indigenous fibre workers are contributing to the textile industry today.
