Banff Pork Seminar

The Banff Pork Seminar is a yearly technology transfer meeting for the pork industry. It offers a view to the future in its plenary sessions and practical "take home" information in its breakout sessions

Bentley Lecture

Each year the University of Alberta invites a speaker of international renown to present current research and updates in areas relating to soil science, agricultural production methods, and sustainable agriculture.

Empey Lecture

The Empey Lecture is delivered annually in honour of Dr. Elizabeth Empey. Human Ecology hold public lectures are delivered on issues related to Family Science, Material Culture, Clothing & Textiles, or Nutrition.

Fashion Culture Network

The Fashion Culture Network is dedicated to celebrating the idea of style and the appreciation of textiles through an open network of University of Alberta academic experts, staff, students, and the public. Hosted through the department of Human Ecology.

Forest Industry Lecture

The Forest Industry Lecture Series (FILS) began and was developed as a collaborative event by members of the “forestry community” in Alberta to enrich the Forestry Program at the University of Alberta.

Livestock Gentec Annual Conference

An annual event that brings together researchers, producers, industry and government representatives to discuss the latest advances in and applications of livestock genomics.

Renewable Resources Seminar Series

This series offered public seminars by scientists and policymakers, University of Alberta faculty members, and research collaborators, to showcase important topics of research, the diversity of our current research and show its linkage to management practices and policy. As of 2019 this seminar series has been placed on hold.

REES Department Research Seminars

The Department of Resource Economics and Environmental Sociology (REES) Seminar Series brings together some of the experts in agricultural, resource, and environmental economics, as well as the sociology of environment, food, and natural resources.

Ronald O. Ball Lectureship in Food & Agriculture

Ronald O Ball has generously supported this lecture with the Ronald O Ball Lectureship in Food & Agriculture Fund.

This fund allows the University of Alberta to invite an excellent speaker to campus who will appeal to many audiences, faculty members, students, alumni, media, professional agrologists, and the general public.

Western Canadian Dairy Seminar

Held every year in Red Deer, this annual event brings together dairy producers, extension specialists, researchers and dairy service and supply representatives together to share the latest research results. The seminar is regarded as the best of its kind in North America.

J.G. O’Donoghue Memorial Lecture

The J.G. O’Donoghue Memorial Lecture was established in 1981 to honour the late Dr. O’Donoghue, former Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Government of Alberta. The lectures are given every 2 to 3 years by outstanding veterinarians or scientists to University Alberta students – primarily in the Faculty of Agricultural, Life &  Environmental Sciences – and in Saskatoon to veterinary students at the Western College of Veterinary Medicine.

Clothing Repair Café

Did you know that wearing your clothes for longer is the most impactful way to reduce fashion's carbon footprint? Sometimes, in order to wear your clothes for longer, they need to be repaired or altered, so the Human Ecology Clothing Repair Café offers tips and training for mending garments.
