You are warmly invited to attend our last Human Ecology Research Seminar for the Winter 2024 term on Tuesday, April 2 12:30-1:30pm.
Please join us to hear presentations of current research being done in the department of human ecology.
Both presentations will be held in person in GSB 550 and virtually via Google Meet.

The speakers are:

Karly Coleman, PhD program, Human Ecology
Time: 12:30pm
Title: “Co-Design and City Governance: Self and Others in a Dispute over Urban Infrastructure”
  • Karly Coleman studies material culture and is a presenter/instructor on topics related to communication, sustainability, and cycling. Her dissertation work focuses on how people understand the urban environment and talk about other people during public disputes over bike lanes.
Lelia Lawson, PhD program, Human Ecology
Time: 1:00pm
Title: “Regenerated Cellulose from Canadian Hemp”
  • Lelia Dawson is the Research & Development Specialist at Davey Textile Solutions Inc. She has a BSc and MSc in Human Ecology (Textiles & Clothing) and is currently enrolled in the Human Ecology Doctoral Program at the University of Alberta researching regenerated cellulosic fibres from hemp feedstock. Her experience in the textile industry spans over 20 years, specializing in industrial personal protective clothing. Her continuing passion is in hemp and seeing this amazing plant become part of the bioeconomy revolution.
