Title: Cultivating Digital Habitats for Agricultural Communities of Practice: Introducing a technology stewardship training program in Sri Lanka and Trinidad
Abstract: The University of Alberta is involved in a partnership development project with post-secondary institutions in Sri Lanka and Trinidad to introduce and evaluate a technology stewardship training program for agricultural communities of practice. The current project builds on a series of pilots conducted between 2016-2019 using participatory action research to examine the role of extension and advisory services in supporting inclusive digital transition pathways. In this talk, I will discuss the origins of the project, introduce the technology stewardship approach and briefly touch on its theoretical foundations related to ICT for development more broadly. The talk will also summarize the initial results of the pilots and the plans we have for the project with funding from our SSHRC Partnership Development Grant.
